I would like to start off by thanking folks for the kind emails and for the friends who pushed me to get back to drawing more and posting as well. Even though I haven't been posting much I have been drawing more lately but it has been resigned to drawing on my 40 min. commutes back home at night and I have just been to buzy and lazy to post those drawing so please forgive me :)
I must say things have changed for the positive the last few months since I have made my way back into an animation studio (Studio B). The people I have met there are stellar talents and swell folks who constantly make laugh my ass off all day long while I draw my butt off.

Anyhow here is the image I did and below that is the video of me drawing it. It took one me just over a hour from beginning to end. But for the video i speed it up 2 times so it's just over 15min to watch the whole thing. Enjoy!

This is for my buddy Wil Caligan's Cherry Bomb comic. Not sure when it's slated to be released but I shall keep Y'all posted.
I dont usually talk about my process but I thought it might be useful to someone :) So a bit about the process : I first ruffed out the entire concept on 8.5 x 11 which i didn't post, then i scanned it into PS3 where I dropped in two separate perspective grids on it. the firt being the bg perspective and secondly the perspective of the bike. the reason being is i didn't want the bike to sit exactly parallel to the side walk. yes it's a little more work (but not too much) to get the perspective to turn just a little bit ( correctly) but it's worth it, plus it makes the piece a little more dynamic and draws your eyes to the girl and bike as well.
I then printed out the two different grids and drew the bike on a separate sheet about 6 inches wide. I then printed the bg grid about 4 inches tall and 8 to a page so I could explore different bg ideas. I think it was the fourth thumbnail before i found this bg you see here. then i comp the two together in PS3 and whamo this is what you get.

Every once in a while people ask me if I use ref when I draw and the answer is NO 99.999999 % of the time. But when I paint (which isn't often enough) I absolutely use it. It's my handicap as I need it to figure out my lighting. As you can see in the below process piece I dont use ref pics it to figure out my color. I generally like to push the color to a more saturate state much like my drawing :)
Finding ref pics is a real hassel!!! Maybe one day I will hire models and light them myself but that seems like an even bigger hassel! :)

Here is a little work in process. Okay so you probably going to ask why didn't you clean up the drawing before you coloured?? well it's my little experiment. I saw "The Ultimates 3" book this week that Joe Mad did and said why the hell not follow in the masters foot steps and keep the energy of the original pencils and color right on top of it.
We shall see how it turns out! :)

My good friend Will has a new comic book coming out called OutLaw Angle being published by TokyoPop. Look out for it on the shelves!! He has kindly asked me to do the covers which i am very stoked about!! I hope you dig the ruff!!

Soo frigging busy of late between full time work, freelance, a mini vacation and working on my flash game time is so bloody limited for too much extra curricular doodling...... but i aint complaining!!!
Actually i do have some neat newz.. I did some freelance work for playboy's february 08 issue. it was supportive illustration for a Patton Oswald article. very fun article to draw for!!

Allright!! It was a great vacation with my son. Thanks everyone for all the kind words and support folks. Right now i am working on a side project that hopefully will set me free but it going to eat up a ton of my time. Here are a few more victims of my last killed project for me.

I'm off to spain for 3 weeks!!
